The Edge was totally not-causing-fear.
When I played it, I didn't feel fear. Maybe because Edge's Defence was so easy to shut down (that conflicts with notes, that saying that it would "lock you up inside" and you will die). Maybe because we have already seen Lighthouse, Loop, and others deadly places...

I again and again feel inexplicable fear, when I play it.

Oh, I so want to feel the same feelings in upcoming Sub9 and Sub10!
Actually Sub2 is creepy because of "Ring" references. Why do you not ask Matuesz to make a creepy game one day?

Wait. Daymare Town is a creepy game. :P

Not for me. Because I never watched Ring.

No. (At least for me)

That doesn't mean that the references can't have that effect on you. Not knowing a thing doesn't prevent you from not feeling it.
Maybe if you watched the movie you would feel some of the creepiness of sub2 (I haven't watched it either).

It is EXTREMELY creepy for me sometimes. If it was a nightmare town with dark colors, I'd probably have screamed the first times playing... especially with the Librarian suddenly appearing and all that XD
submachine 2 did have that creepy vibe to it, even with the ambient turned off. submachine 7 also registers on that creepy scale, especially the menu ambient... its like someone screaming...
Sub7 has a good contrast, on the one hand some places and ambients are relaxing, but on the other hand, it manages to keep you in tension throughout the game (especially at the Liz's Ship). Relaxing chords spotted with dissonances at times, ThumpMonks did a good job there :P

I've never even heard of Ring, unless you are referring to Lord of the Rings.

He could add something like the notes in Sub6.
The idea that there were at least 5 before us
and some of them had either suffered the faith of whatever the Protocol is,
Or killed themselves,
Or vanish without leaving a trace as to what happen to them.
Yeah, I like a balance. The balanced environments, in my opinion, are the best part of submachine. I've played many creepy PNC games and many non-creepy PNC games, but none do a better a job at balancing the two than submachine (and DMT3) :D

I think DMT3 is the best because it reaches a balance better than the others (in my opinion)

Never looked at it like that before.
Balance is imperative; without it, total collapse and destruction is imminent.

Are you serious? It is the most relaxing game in series.

I agree. The only part that was remotely scary would have been Liz's ship.
Is this my final form?

I found that sub7 had a peaceful atmosphere, but did you read the next part of what Gemini said? :
