The Root Observatory Theory 20/1/15
This just a small one.
First of all we have the The Root which is a teleportation system that has 343 locations as of the evidence shown so far, (or a different number depending on how you count them). The transporter here is designed for one person as well as the rooms, they all contain one chair and if there were more people the transport the transporter would be rendered useless because of its limitations.
My theory is that someone was observing something, I don't know what but from the equipment in the area (screens and periscopes) it seems viable and that one person was watching them using the transporters to get around to the different places. There are other places in the root though that don't relate to observing though (2,1 for example) but this could be more experimenting and exploring done by the person because this must have been a huge discovery back then.
(This was just a start and I will update the page with more speculative things if they come to me)
21/1/15
On Murtaugh's tomb it called him a 'The Overseer' this wording points towards him observing something. I think that he was the one observing us, look at the evidence.
1) Sub 4 is a test, one that Mur oversaw.
2) His communication room (where he talks to you from, throughout sub 4) (355) has a root transporter.
3) The light house, where Mur was trapped also has a root transporter.
This just a small one.

So... just one person?

Yeah, the transporter would only work efficiently for one person.Lord of Flies wrote:So... just one person?

Re: mentalEngineer's Theories/Speculations
I was talking about it in the subun topic. It's extremely counterproductive.and

The Root's Workings
So what I and others have worked out is that 0,0 is the main transporter acting like a hub for all the ongoing signals from the minor transporters, but for this to happen there would have to be a secondary connection where the lines would meet at, and would go to 0,0 through one of the six lines connected to it. So far we have no evidence of this but they have to be somewhere.

Re: mentalEngineer's Theories/Speculations
You're saying each line contains two wires, sending in different directions? (Example: To get from (0,1) to (0,2) the button is pressed at (0,1), the signal is routed to the hub and then to (0,2). The connection is made and the Player is transported to (0,2))

Pretty much.

Re: mentalEngineer's Theories/Speculations
So the secondary connection you talked about would be the other wire in each main line?

Re: mentalEngineer's Theories/Speculations
No, it would be a box of some sort with all the wires of the other transporters in that sector going into it and one cable going out to the Hub (0,0).
So each secondary connector box would have ~57 wires connecting to other transporters (or potentially a another connection box) and 1 connecting to the hub.
