The problem is that there are 2 types of cultures here: The Fourth Dynasty and the Shiva's cult.

We never eard again about the 4th Dynasty after they passed the torch and the plan was lost. But after the cult appeared, posibely with Liz included. The cult didn't knew about the situation, and since the Computer became the most smartert being in the world, itself decided take control of the people of the cult by taking the place of Shiva.
Later the cult created all their Ruins/Temple locations by using the Layer 8 as time machine (hence, why it was known as Layer of time) between the years 1923 and 1932. And what happened with the 4th Dynasty?, they where the uniques to know that the computer is not actually a God, because they created it. So perpaps the people of the cult and the machine itself decided to exile them because they "heresy". Where? Layer 8 of course.

Thats my idea, that we have to save to remaints of the 4th Dynasty trapped in the Layer 8.

Also, don't forget that Submachine contains elements and structures from all eras, earth places and religions.

Just a though, what if it's the other way round? What if the culture, architecture, and religion from the occupants of the Submachine, the fourth dynasty etc, seeped out onto earth, in small pockets, influencing different cultures across the world?
