The Time Is Gone TheoryBasically, every time someone gets themselves lost in the Subnet, they are turned to CHEEZ! and processed by the Submachine, a huge herd of cows.

This says that time vanishes when you enter the Subnet, causing insurmountable amounts of pain by suspending starving/dying people in time until they are on the brink of death, then letting them die.
