You don't have place in your pockets, so you use cart. You can't take items from cart at any time, like you do with items you have with you.
I know, I used word "you" seven times.

We have seven characters, that means only tree days of food.

People are living in different time zones, so basically one turn must be one day long. Without it many people wouldn't be able to play.

No, of course not. One tour is just as long as sum of commands. So in our model of turns... one in game day can be many RL days.
