Ian: run. close the door behind you if it will be safe.

RUN INTO THE KITCHEN, TURN AROUND, AND PREPARE YOUSELF!

USE THE STEEL ROD, AND GO FOR HIS EYES!
HIS GLOWY EVIL RED EYES THAT ARE EASY TARGETS FOR YOU TO GOUGE OUT AND PIERCE~!
AFTER YOU KILL HIM, DRAG HIM INTO THE KITCHEN, CLOSE THE DOOR, AND CALM YOUSELF DOWN.

THEN LOOT HIS CORPSE.

SEARCHING THE KITCHEN CAN COME AFTER YOU SECURE THE IMMEDIATE AREA (I.E. THE HALLWAY AND THE KITCHEN DOOR).

ShadowNil, I think you should be more serious...
You don't want to see this screen, right?

And EVEN IF we kill first monster, the story turns into shooter from horror adventure...

Actually Ian CAN kill the first monster.
If you look, the monster is on Ian's left. The monster's jaws also make it so it can only lunge forward to devour Ian, and waving it's head to the sides won't do much.

So all Ian has to do is:
1- Backstep ASAP for a few steps so the monster lunges forward where Ian was, missing Ian.
2- Ian should now be facing the monster's right flank (?). He can now GO FOR THE RIGHT EYE!
3- Ian stabs right eye. Right eye severely injured (pierced, hehe!).
4- Ian quickly runs around behind the monster to its left while it's in agony.
5- Stab left eye. Pain ensues for the monster.
6- Stab it through the head to ensure the kill / further brain damage.
7- VICTORY!

ShadowNil... Maybe you're right, but I think you see the story as computer game where your hero makes EVERYTHING you want, pressing keys on keyboard.

But as I understand:

1) Ian is simple human. He's not Jedi.
2) What if YOU see monster, what would you do?.. You will NOT fight it, hitting in weak points or something like this... IT IS LIFE, not computer game. Or you will freeze on place, or you become insane, or all instincts tell you RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.

Sorry, Vortex. I shut up from now.
*shuts*

Your logic is impeccable as always, Sublevel.

But it's still a game. We have some degree of control over Ian. We can't have him do lots of things all at once, but we can make him do things one step at a time.

We can't have him kill the monster in one go, but we CAN make him use his instincts to stab the monster in the eye with the steel rod of his. The eye IS red, which makes it pop out to Ian in the darkness, and since he holds a long, thin, metal object, he CAN stab it.

Going for the eyes is always a viable tactic: look at Legend of Zelda games...

I think it depends in the experience of the player. I mean, Ian is not like "60" or "Maddox" that have skill and experiences, even if they lost part of they memory.
