You don't see any hinge. You could try putting lubricant on the place where the hatch meets the wall, but the lubricant could just slide down. Maybe if you used the lubricant somewhere else...

Use the lubricant on the hinge/base of the jammed lever, then pull it down.

You put a little lubricant on the base of the lever, then pull it down.
You hear a squeaking sound coming from the gears on your right, but you only manage to push the lever a little bit more than before.

You see that the hatch has opened enough for you or at least Snarr to climb through, but when you want to climb out, you see whatever that was shining light through the room is now blocking your way out:
