I still haven't used the lever handle. How bad off am I?

I got the stone eyes, brass valve and climbing rope, but don't know what to do with them.
Any hints?

Have you found the bowl to put at the base of the ladder you came down but can't go back up? Put the bowl on the pedestal to the right, fill it with karmic water and go up and look for a chest with the last brass tile. I'm sure you already have the key to open the chest.

...I thought that pedestal was useless.
