Oh, there's a Wikia for that as well. Very well, then, I'll give it a check and reply later.
POST-WIKIA'D EDIT: Okay, I understand it better now. While I may not be able to contribute much to the story itself, it seems that the way that the story is told has not yet been decided. Paper notes, virtual logs, and the like. Also, the thing about security drones and refilling coffee could create some sort of puzzle requiring salvaged parts of those drones.
SO. MANY. IDEAS.
THEY FILL MY MIIIIND.

The more I think of this, the more I think we're reaching the point where we need to experiment and test as much as we need to plan ahead.... But of the resources we have at our disposal, someone who could actually realize our ideas is not one. How frustrating.

Not quite, I have been trying to learn a few things that may be of use, unless I am misunderstanding what you are referring to that is.

I'm referring to actually programming the game.

Any that can be expected of players to have.

Well, my knowledge is limited to Python and Linux (?), and although I've programmed very limited games on the former, it wouldn't be practical for a game like this I don't think. I could try learn to program in a more appropriate language?
EDIT: Although I agree with the need to get something down and experiment with it.

Not quite neccesary. Sure, we'll need something more practical when we ship it, but anything someone interested can download in a few minutes should be enough for development. The important thing is we can make something concrete. Because you are referring to popularity, right? If it's technical limitations, ignore the above.

Well, I've managed to make simple games like text adventures, or clones of fishes, worm (?), tetris etc. Nothing as complex as a point and click game or even the very bare bones of one, but I'll look to see if it could be done.
EDIT: Yes, it can be done, so it is technically possible.

Well then, let me just note how invaluable this will be. Thank you.
