From the void. Like Rain
How else did the grass retain its green color?
Granted, you can argue that the grass is preserved indefinitely in the flux of the Submachine unknown laws.

But then how do you explain the rock fragments in that location have some smooth wearing on its surface.

water just can't fall from the sky! It can't be Water cycle neither!!!
Then how did "He" know about the concept of rain?
like tears

in rain

In SNEE, location lcr, the Pyramidion is a quote from H. P. Lovecraft "A Shadow out of time".

Well that's my argument :P

Something else I was wondering, what exactly are we exiting? Are we exiting the Submachine network into the true world, or are we simply exiting to our home layer? Remember, Murtaugh came from the third layer. So you could say he was born there, or at least entered the network of Submachines there.

I guess a bit more plot for Mateusz to mull over, did Murtaugh enter the network from the third layer, was he born there, why did he enter the network, why did we enter the network, where did we enter. We entered in the basement, of course, but where is the basement located?

All these locations like Lighthouse, it makes me think that there is no "true world" that the Submachine network encompasses the entire universe. It is the universe, and everything in between, the submachines are just planets, galaxies, stars. Submachine is real, its not a software program, its not a dream, its not a hallucination. Its an actual entity. So what are we exiting?

but how do we breath? Is the Void is Earth air?

we can hear wind outside the Lab and Ancient Temple...

What do we eat? Mati said about some kind of place of food...

and these invisible sources of light in some places...

I would like to see how all this will be explained.
We entered in the basement, of course
did we?

years have passed, and I started to doubt...

Response.
The Idea is simple, the Submachine is the 3rd Dimension. Its the singularity collective mass that existed before the Big Bang incident that created the universe.
And the "Worlds" are inverse. Like the location in the Halo game, where the Forunner Shield Worlds. The singular Mass 'outside' being smooth and 'non-existing' where as the inside where solid matter would usually be found, but in its place is the World of the Submachine.

Back when I went insane, I believed we were exiting into the 4th dimension.

The word EXIT is kept in line with scientific and technical and computer terms the whole main series has used. Perhaps we will exit and return to our Layer, wherever that is.

Or perhaps we're helping those trapped in the 8th Layers and lead to their Exit. Perhaps, this is our redemption arc after possibly abandoning our exploration teams as hinted from the note in Sub_7.

What note? And we never had exploration teams, Murtaugh did though.

what note?
Great man who knew what was happening and left the Core as well as Mur?

Are you suggesting the player is the man who knew what was happening but left? Dunno, Sub6 basically makes it clear that we are one of many explorers attempting to deactivate the defense systems. Why would this great man want to deactivate the defense systems.

That is the wrong question Anonymous.
The Right one is "why is he stuck in this history loop?"

Plus, if he is who the Notes suggest, then why is he stuck in this history loop?
He doesn't meed to relive history, he knows whats going on.
