well, we have seen portal-type mechanics in Sub3, Sub4, Sub5, Sub7 and Sub8, so it could be another one. or something else :P
if Mateusz had the idea right now, that means it wasn't planned from the beginning, so probably it won't affect the plot much (though I could be wrong)... but it could be many things, that's as far as I can deduct XD

EDIT: it would be cool to have a time machine, for example, or... a mini-map device that lets us change the layout of rooms in order to advance (like the elevator map of Sub6) or... I don't know, there are endless possibilities :D

If its something releted only to the Temple then it doesn't affects the plot, similar way for Sub5 Root Transporters.

But yeah, PURE AWESOME :D
