Submachine Universe
Re: Submachine Network Exploration
The multiple earlier versions of Sub1 and the Sub2 sketch are rather a sort of bonus material, like how in some "behind the scenes" we see the early concepts and developments of a film. So they are valuable in that sense.
However the SNEE rooms are in the most part exactly the same as in older versions, exceptuating 291, a little of 523 and the karma portal ones, so what's the point of seeing an earlier version when you can emulate it nearly perfectly by avoiding travelling to the new rooms?

You don't understand me...
Well, I give up. I just want to ask:
1)Is there a way to play early versions of SNEE?
2)Is there a way TO SAVE current SNEE version to comp/some place?

1) Nope...I don't even think an earlier version of SNEE exists anymore.Sublevel 102 wrote:You don't understand me...

2) Given that every single room is stored and loaded separately, I highly doubt it.

1) I think Mateusz has some backup copies of SNEE, but only from newer versions, so probably the old ones are lost forever.Sublevel 102 wrote:You don't understand me...

2) You can save the independent swfs, but you won't be able to use them because they are site-locked, unless you hack them in some way, an I don't think Mateusz will allow for that.
EDIT: And sorry if I didn't understand you completely I sometimes have that feeling that I want to see old versions of a game to compare and see what's changed (or to see the canonical evolution of the in-game time, in the case of an on-going project like this one), and also sometimes I try to collect every single info/artwork I can from a franchise/series I like (the collector's syndrome XD), but in this case I wouldn't have felt the need of any of that, I guess it depends on the person, some want older versions and others don't really care.

What a shame,I never got to see the Twins room before it was updated.
Is this my final form?

Re: Submachine Network Exploration
That I highly doubt. If I were to work on a project of that magnitude, I would edit the specific location files themselves, completely getting rid of the old layout. Having that many .FLAs and .SWFs lying around a computer is sort've a waste of space. So probably not.1) I think Mateusz has some backup copies of SNEE, but only from newer versions, so probably the old ones are lost forever.
Also, what point is it to have a backup that isn't up-to-date?
Anyhow, what Mateusz said.

Re: Submachine Network Exploration
But WHY? WHY? Old SNEE versions are essential part of Submachine series! I completely disagree. :/no
But... well, I know that I can be in the wrong, so it is my last words.

Re: Submachine Network Exploration
I think doing an archive of SNEE every time an update comes up is very tedious, and most locations look better after an update.

Dunno, I remember that he said he had backups when the kol location was lost, but he didn't specify. Also, what point is it to have a backup that isn't up-to-date?
