Looks like I stumbled upon that ARG just in time to see it end – Frictional just announced the new game officially, to be released in Autumn 2020 (which likely means September, since that marks exactly 10 years since The Dark Descent was released).

It actually might not be. I said that because of ignorance on my part. I had one prior experience with downloading a game and playing it during a free period on Steam (Half Life: Opposing Force) and I swear I remember it disappearing after the free trial ended, but no, it's still there for me and playable and everything. So downloading the Stanley Parable now might let you keep it anyway.
