I have no idea. The reason I thinked differently is because I think there is a relation between the plan and the cubic shape of the rooms. The note in Sub7 was likely made at the origins of the outer rim. What about if the Subnet evolved and recreated the plan? I think that happened when the edge and the system were created, and all started to become cubic again. I get that idea by looking at the Sub7 blue screens and the left window of 277 in SNEE.
Yes, if I have understood the timeline at all, all the evidence would suggest that we end up in the void if we use the navigator carelessly. The plan is not infinite in every layer, most probably, although at least the mutated submachines like to expand. Submachines do seem to organically expand too, so it would be weird it the structure spread elsewhere as well, at least to me.

I made a list of all the things promised for the next version:
At least 10 new locations.
At least one new puzzle.
Unshown locations of Sub8. (Unlikely)
The "Write your own note" system from Sub4.
Reboot of 523. (Really Unlikely)
Fix of the color of the frame in 552.
Addition of a note about Einstein of Sub9 in 728.
Addition of Sub9 notes in 859.
Fix of the portal digit bug in 923.
Addition of the water dropping sound in 947.
Tell me if I missed anything.

the rooms mentioned in the 2013 wrap-up are missing (or did you include these in "10 new locations"?)

I'm not promising anything in my wrap-ups. I just type down things I want to do in upcoming year.
