Last time I checked a proton was made of two up quarks and one down quark and gluons, so it's hardly the smallest particle of matter, lol.

No, they're not the same. You can think of quarks as coloured balls and of gluons as the glue that sticks them so that they don't repel and can form a proton/neutron/something.

Funny, in my school they were on the picture in the book, but nobody was talking about it. They weren't even named in this book.

Sounds like some kind of quantum conspiracy.

Don't know what kind of school you're going to, but here, where I am, we learn some stuff no one even mentions in other schools.
