i just copied the translation i found on the internet and added tonal diacritical marks in pinyin

That's the attitude everyone should have, I believe. But as a lot of people find it easier to hide in some cave with some cronies and kick everything else out, that attitude isn't as widespread as it should be

I also always try to assume good faith, though many times I fail.
