Can't wait to expand my Town Map into the Country side.
A dedicated forum founded by Mateusz Skutnik, creator of world famous Submachine and several acclaimed point-and-click flash games.

From what I understood, he didn't say that, he said that he has a lot more flexibility with DMT than with the Submachine series.ENIHCAMBUS wrote:Does that mean that you hate Submachine?the submachine world is kind of closed in it’s mechanics and structure
Does that mean that the Subnet died?
Does that mean that you don't want to create sub9, sub10, ongoing spin-offs and SNEE updates?
Well if you don't like Submachine, then stop making them!!!
Last time I heard, he was a graphic novelist first and a game designer secondENIHCAMBUS wrote:And what about Rewolucje?
I know. Just wondering if Submachine have dead. (i.e: No Submachine 9 and ongoing)The Abacus wrote:From what I understood, he didn't say that, he said that he has a lot more flexibility with DMT than with the Submachine series.
Now that I remember, Mateusz said that he can't compare his work as novelist with his work as game architect. The Abacus wrote:Last time I heard, he was a graphic novelist first and a game designer secondENIHCAMBUS wrote:And what about Rewolucje?
It isn't possible to interpret that quote like that. Furthermore, Submachine is arguably the best known game of Mateusz's. People are starting to buy the HD versions as well. Why on Earth would he NOT continue that to the end?I know. Just wondering if Submachine have dead. (i.e: No Submachine 9 and ongoing)
But that's not comparing his work – isn't it?ENIHCAMBUS wrote:Now that I remember, Mateusz said that he can't compare his work as novelist with his work as game architect. The Abacus wrote:Last time I heard, he was a graphic novelist first and a game designer secondENIHCAMBUS wrote:And what about Rewolucje?
I'm fairly sure that:ENIHCAMBUS wrote:I must say that I understand anything.
Daymare world is more flexible due the fact that is plotless (that was the point of the original side project). Mateusz stated that a plot line is a boundary, and affects almost every game (Submachine, Cover Front, Fog Fall, Great Escape, Tortuga, etc.). The project was succesfull and thats why become Mateusz's best world and best game (There is also the "Daymare" difficulty, which makes the game a true challange) . (Side question: due this fact: why Submachine is still "in front" on the forums and the PastelPortal category pages? )
The unique thing i want to know is that Submachine died because Mateusz lost the interest due the boundaries. Rewoludge is still alive due the fact that is part of his graphic novelist job, The Pastel games too since they are created by the Pastel team, and 10 gnomes and Where is series, as well as many others, are just "free candies" that takes less than one week of work.
Submachine takes more time and I don't know if Mateusz wants to waste time in something that he lost the interest. Mateusz obviously will create Sub9 and Sub10. But its likely that they will end like really short and poorly drawn games.
However they are still stuff that makes the Submachine still alive:
1) The HD versions, and thanks to them, why are sure that the next Subs will be not poorly drawn.
2) The "Cool" storyline, that actually is Mateusz best storyline.
3) The theories, that may inspire Mateusz the create ongoing spin-offs.
4) The fact that Subnet is vast, it has 7 layers, almost anything goes in, from ancient tombs to hi-tech cubic rooms.
5) The way that Mateusz uses the game to show to the world how he is a true fan of Matrix, Tron, Lost, Cube, Portal, etc.
6) Submachine fans, Jayisgames, Poland and the entire world that give a good score to Submachine.
I start understand that this was a turning point, where Mateusz lost the interest of the Submachine and the unique thing that makes it alive are the Subfans, those who play Submachine every day, those who buy the HD versions, the Jayisgames, and many others. The fact is that he decided to pass the torch, and now we own Submachine world. Just look at those forum fanfics, and those forum games (Overmachine, Sublevel's revenge, etc.).
We not need to wait the dawn of the Temple, we need to find our Temple inside our minds.
We not need to wait another Subnet batch, the Subnet expanded into our minds and we now have the power to make our expantions.
We not need to wait a room fill with watermelons, you just can go to a market and buy one.
(I'm just talking like Liz and making some Subnet references here)
