Actually, my parents have strange illness: "thirst to get newest". They changed old kinescope TV, microwave, bed, PC monitor, electric stove, cabinet, and many other things not because they were broken, but because they are old!

7 is more like and because it took Vista and basically improved/rid the problems it had.

So 7 is not as bad as some people think, have been using it for almost four years with no viruses. It's been fun.
