I did another room last night in the end. It looks like this now:
the machine ended up more in the style of Abandoned rather than Submachine. It probably needs moar cracks and marks aND ENTROPY AND DESTRUCTION

Agreed, maybe this machine seems a bit smooth. (Also what is the aim of this machine, scanning?)

Well, as I imagined it, it's supposed to open the circular hatch to access the karma portal below. You find a paper with markings in another location, scan it using the lower slot, the machine reads it and sends a message to the automatic opening system using the antenna. With different papers it would do different actions. The buttons are just for decoration XD

they could be "Eject paper" or "Print code" or somethin'!
