You know, Baal et al.
The religions Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all monotheistic. I don't see how the Phoenicians and Canaanites have to do with this. (Side note: I don't know much about Baal apart from what the dictionary said)

They weren't though. Especially in the time they invaded Canaan they were obviously mono
latrist, even if you just read the Bible. After all, how else can one explain not only the references to other gods but stuff like the first commandment? "Thou shallt not have other gods before me"?

Easy,we invented our own fictional gods,and then worship them beside the real one.
