heh, AK, you and me, and many other authors have the same sins...
and fans want to kill us for that.
you understand...
On the other hand, you did not deny your past works and selves, instead rebooting your whole series with the same name with a completely different concept, a main theme and gameplay type, and has the excuse of "I hate everything with violence because omgomg violence means strong people and strong people are bullies and evil and mean and evil and sensitive cute shy people are the only thing that are not devilish and rotten omgomg". I ain't kidding, this is pretty much how the creator acts nowadays in his blog. I mean, sure, I'm not fond of too-much-brawns-no-brains people, but the guy takes both stereotypes to the max.
What's more saddening is how he constantly "denies" his past. One thing is acknowledging you've grown and you're refining your work; another is saying "Oh, that was just something my 'adolescent self' (in that exact term) came up with and now that I look at it it's an awful idea and it sucks and it's horrible." Serious. And that's coming from someone whose "past idiot self" created the masterpiece MARDEK 3, pretty much the largest and most detailed Flash RPG yet! (And with the dawn of Unity over raw Flash games, of all eternity.
) It's strange, considering how cheerful and humorous his in-game jokes used to be; he came up with a whole freakin' mythology of his universe and so far as of writing twenty pages worth of his ficticious-yet-crazy religion's "Bible". Seeing all this being thrown away is a shame.
I can see his new "reboot" being fun to play and interesting... but he should've renamed it. It's like making an epic adventure on a virtual land where humanity has vanished and the heroes must find out the truth about the world... and call it Lord of the Rings, or A Song of Ice and Fire. I still think the creator will end up alienating a whole fanbase (that he doesn't seem to know that he still has - or doesn't want to admit) that does NOT follow his blog, and therefore do not understand *why* MARDEK changed. It's like being a fan of Submachine, and then, with about five or six years without a single word from the author, a new one comes out - and it's completely *not* Submachine. Those who'd follow Mateusz on his blog would know why he'd change the series so drastically, but MANY fans don't know about their favourite games' creators' blogs and all; the case is worse with MARDEK, since the creator's blog is nearly impossible to just stumble upon if you're not a veteran from his previous forums, and the amount of people who don't know about his blog is HUGE, actually. I fear the backlash from previous fans will outnumber the positive reviews of the few people who knew what to expect.
The good thing is, there's a fan-group of his previous stuff that would like to conclude the series on their own right, using back the same MARDEK 3 engine and following on the story from there. I'm not sure how their discussion with the creator is, but I hope I'll get to see an actual MARDEK 4 someday. I've been playing this series since '07, I cannot accept that the story will abruptly reset into something else altogether JUST when the original plot was getting intense.
Melchior invading the planet, Deugan being Lone Wolf, Enki possibly being alive, etc etc

So now you all know what's up with "Pseudolonewolf" and his MARDEK series, for free, even though no one asked. I should probably go get some water, eat some bread, and the bang my head ten times over in a wall before posting another post as negative as this that could well end up in the Rant Board, lol.
