or the portals found a way to bypass the system (highly unlikely).
I feel the same way - Otherwise, Mur would've found said Portals and there would be no need for that plot point.
Or SNEE takes place after we turned off the defense system giving us the freedom to explore in both the Core and the Outer Rim.
I was actually thinking a bit more about the timeline in the series because of Void's Theory in 551 (SNEE) [regardless, it's Canon], but possibly there are parts of SNEE during the regular timeline and parts afterward? It's strange to think this is after the DefSys because, as we saw in the Root, the Lighthouse would have the dirt mound, wouldn't it?

So SNEE is likely either in the Outer Rim or the Core?

Well, no, I thought it was in the area outlying the Core and before the Outer Rim, like a "middleground."

Let me show you:

As it seems like my brain is overwhelmed, the secondary DefSys is protecting the Core from anything past the Edge.

Now either the Core comprises of everything inside the secondary DefSys (meaning all the Submachines are inside the Core, which would explain why the Lighthouse is there), or, as I mentioned previously, perhaps everything outside that giant square around the "C," yet still inside the secondary DefSys, is the SubNet we know of.

So SNEE is likely either in the Outer Rim or the Core?
But not all the SNEE locations are only from the Outer Rim or only from the Core. For example, oxt is from the Winter Palace, and the Root/Lab locations must be from the Outer Rim.

But Mateusz said somewhere that subnet=core+outer rim, not?

(sorry, I didn't read all the discussion).

Well, replace Root with Loop and the argument still holds. Liz warned Mur not to cross the Lighthouse portal because there were mutations in the outer rim, and the portal led to the Loop, so at least the Loop must be in the Outer Rim. And it is in SNEE.

Maybe the outer rim is the loops. And other places are in the core.

Also he has stated that not all of SNEE is on one layer.

I don't think Liz knew for sure that the Lighthouse Portal would lead to the Outer Rim, but I have been tossing around the possibility of the Loop being in the Outer Rim.

Possibly because of all the instability in the Core due to Mur's Karma Portals, Liz thought that the Lighthouse Portal would give off a "random jump" to its user?
But Mateusz said somewhere that subnet=core+outer rim, not?

That's alright.

And if he has said that, it's not in the Wiki under "Forum Posts," as far as I'm aware.

I actually didn't think any part of the SubNet that we've been to was part of the Outer Rim because:

a) The Outer Rim isn't mapped, yet if it wasn't, how come we were able to get there easily?

b) According to Liz, only mutations exist out there. If the Root was in the Outer Rim, why would Liz know for a fact Mur couldn't come back from the Outer Rim?
Also he has stated that not all of SNEE is on one layer.
Well, that certainly confuses things further.

Amazing how a simple question can have such a confusing answer.
