I don't think he's hostile, but if we are in unknown country/planet, during war, possibly being important person for the conflict, we should really go to the nearest embassy/goverment office, and ask for asylum.
At least that's what we would do on Earth, but taking planets as big countries, it's most proper thing to do. I think.
