Yeah. I am getting the same feeling with Half Life 2 and Portal series. They just kept looking better, with both Valve and mod supports.

At this point, I am still waiting for ROUTINE to be finished. That's the only horror game I am waiting for right now.

What about SOMA or Otlast 2? :D

Hey, AK, what horrors did you play? Do you like this game genre?

(I still remember first four chapters of your story, they were pure horror)

I enjoyed good horror games with substantial theme and engaging gameplay. The horror I played and enjoyed immensely were:

Amnesia: The Dark Descent and A Machine For Pigs
Half Life 2 (we don't go to ravenholm!!!)
Lone Survivor
7th Guest (scared me back when I was young)
Among the Sleep
Bioshock 1 & 2
Left 4 Dead 1 & 2
The Walking Dead: Season 1 & 2

And of course, my favorite...
Resident Evil 4

I have no interests in Outlast and while I do heard that it is quite scary, I see it more like a thrill ride with very little else. And of course! SOMA! I am also interested in that. Thanks for reminding me.

And yeah, my story had some horror elements in first 4 chapters, but there will be some horror in the next few chapters as well.

I know, but Youtuber, who makes atmospheric playings of horror games, played it yesterday night.

The Thief series got a reboot last year, but the "original" trilogy was made between 1998 and 2004. I just got to beat the first Part (Dark Project: Gold) and am really thrilled.

It's a 1st person stealth game that is set in some kind of classical/ steampunkish age (with magic! ). You play as a snappy master thief called Garrett and steal from the rich (=you search for precious loot on your way). The story is interesting and progresses through individual missions were you usually have to sneak into a closed and guarded terrain, get an object and then get out. It's not uncommon that this easy plan gets interrupted by some twists...

The levels are big and complex almost always nonlinear, so that you can choose how to achieve the goals of each mission. It's often possible to just sneak around your enemies, but also to knock them out with a blackjack or "gas arrows", take them out from the distance with a crossbow, distract them by throwing objects/ making noise etc. It's usually up to your ressources, strategy and patience.
Oh, and Sounddesign and the dark atmosphere are outstanding. It's not really a horror game, but some parts are very tense, spooky or just weird.

What isn't so great are the badly aged graphics and some annoying, rather unstealthy supernatural enemy types

Do I have to say that I recommend it? :D

I love Antichamber!!! So mind-bending, yet so very logical.

Anyone remember Unreal Tournament? I still have the 2004 copy on my computer. It's still fun to play :P
