My thought: it is better to release BIG update than small updates with only 1 puzzles on it...

I think both are fine. Small updates can be for refining the game or to end up a phase (like in this case), and I prefer to see it changing little by little, it makes Subverse look more active and evolving that if there were only one big update per year or so.
