I used to be so arrogant and confused. At least for two I helped to get them a suitable partner, that made me happy, and not becuase that would mean they wouldn't bother me anymore. I still had a good relationship as schoolmates with most of them after the fact.

It's a good thing that you do prioritize your own needs and feelings first, but try to also keep an open space for something different. You may never know how good or bad a situation might turn out unless you go for it, as long as you're also interested in the people approaching you, of course.
