Nothing, it's have 8 buttons when it was some sort of elevator remote control, and then someone make from it navigator. And because we have only 7 layers 8th button dont have use.

Certainly it doesn't do anything if we try to "push" it in Sub8.

But when we activate the beamer on layer 7, the navigator blows green.

Mateusz has addressed that actually.
Mateusz Skutnik wrote:there's third option.
beamers open dimensions AND other things.
which they do.

the last beamer opened a direct connection from one location to the next within layer 5.

Makes senses. But still, we have that eight button, maybe it open the portal that allows anyone connected to it to leave the Submachine back to Earth. Or what ever the Player came from.

Yes, I understand that, but Kakama thinks it has a purpose - I meant to ask him, it wasn't a general question to everyone :P

We don't have the button, we just have the hole. Remember, as I keep explaining, and as Mateusz has said in the interview (that I'll find if you need me to) - Submachine's about exploring, it's not about escaping.

Yes but what are we? The Explorer, or the Solver.

I think the interview makes it quite clear: we are an explorer.

Green vs blue is all what i can say about that.

Side note: I think Liz get rid of the 8 button because she don't wanted that the player fall in...

Hey! this is similar to sub3 last level!

What? The beams aren't blue...

Fall into where? If there's no eighth Layer (as Mateusz has said), then the eighth hole is meaningless.
