Just realised how freaky the background picture for the forum actually is.
Not that im against it, it just suprises me that i didnt notice a possibly screaming fanged creature that may or may not be part of the wall with wires leading out of its skull before.
It's just the librarian wearing a spooky wooden mask he found in an old tribal section of a museum.
That's my guess anyway.

Mini lightning rods. This particular tribe was fanatical about their version of the God of thunder and would try in anyway possible to harness his power, believing that if an individual were to be struck by his hand they would transcend to a god like status of their own.
The number of rods is also a symbol of status; the more rods an individual had on their mask the higher status they were, as they had won and earned better chances at becoming a Demigod.
I can go on.
(Strangely enough... that's not too different than most religions out there.)
