Because I feel like it, I shall now tell you the development of karma technology as I understand it:
0) Karma gets used as an energy source, i.e. wisdom gems.
1) Karmic water is discovered in Kent.
2) Karmic water materials are discovered by Henry O'Toole. This specifically means that they discovered the fact that material mixed with karmic water can exist on several layers simultaneously. Using this property, the Palace was created – a location which is the same on every layer.
3) This technique was further developed to created the Plan, which is a type of cross layer building, in which every existing room has a corresponding functional room on every layer, to allow for safe transition between layers.
4) Murtaugh's arm was imbued with karmic water, creating his multidimensional karma arm.
5) Murtaugh discovers he can draw portals between two locations he knows.
6) Murtaugh discovers he can use additional energy to draw portals to locations he hasn't yet visited.
Between this and the next point Murtaugh get ostracized and the fourth dynasty collapses.
7) Ways to store karma as energy are refined much further to fuses, batteries, etc.
8) Murtaugh develops a theory of karma and researches it, eventually developing the karma stabilizer.
9) Murtaugh develops techniques to make karma portals stable, such that they do not cause the material to be destroyed.

I'm writing up a new theory in regards to the resin we have seen in the past two games and also Submachine Universe.
I know, I have that silly Resin Lifeforce theory, but its entirely different! Its actually mentioned already, if you have a keen eye for detail you might be able to find it

Ok, last game is out, and to make final list of answered and unanswered facts and questions about Submachine, to collect all puzzles of big picture, I want to return to Research Team thread.
Hope this time I could see through all layers...

Can someone remind me what the term is describing games in a series that 'mirror' each other (like Submachine)? Vortex, I think you said it at one point.

The term is "chiastic structure"
it's not just used for games, but for any artwork too, especially literary works.
