(in PC horror games characters try to stay in full dark because monsters can find them by light...)
Ian agrees that it is more safe to let the lights off. He can see anyways...

...wait...

...what the FUCK...

Though he can't really see anything, the exposure to the darkness outside has seemingly altered his eyes in a way that he can "perceive" hints of objects... even though there is technically no light at all to see them! O_O

He should really be much MUCH more worried about this than he is, but after everything he has seen he has almost lost the ability to feel surprised anymore... he won't complain about this benign "mutation" for the moment, at least it comes in handy now.

Next to him there's a sofa, the balcony doors he entered through, and a door (most likely leading to the rest of rooms).

In front of him he can discern a table, a TV on a cabinet with two drawers, a big painting, a small round table with some objects on it, and another sofa.

Also check below the carpet.
Behind Ian is the balcony, nothing has changed. Looks like the monster can't climb walls after all (luckily for him).

Ian checks below the carpet in every corner... nothing.

Ian is about to check the sofa when he hears a voice...

<???>: WHO'S THERE?!

Ian freezes. Suddenly the door opens and...

Ian: do you recognize this woman?..
Even if you do - STAY AWAY from her: she has knife, and she could be possessed by demons...

Didn't see the last pic...

Ian: Hide behind the sofa if she didn't see you. You can trust no one!
Try to knock her out and steal her knife and glasses. You can even make a telescope using the lenses of the glasses...

Bender, stop turning BEAST into A'LLUKIN.

Ian: Quickly tell her who you are, so she isn't threatened, and tell her your story.
Then ask her to tell you HER story, so she can join your party, if possible.

(I doubt she is posessed. For one, she is sane enough to ask "Who's there?!", as opposed to attack you on sight unlike anyone theoretically posessed by any sort of monster. Regardless, the smoke monsters are too solid to posess others IMO, and the "smoke" property seems to be a physical defense mechanism against any physical attacks; hence why Ian's iron rod went right through it.
Besides, this is isn't LOST. See? Logic!)

THEN LOOT THE ROOM! WE NEED ITEMS, ESPECIALLY WITH A SECOND PARTY MEMBER!

What to search and examine thouroughly in this room:

-Behind the big painting on the wall.
-Both drawers of the cabinet the TV is on.
-Both of the sofas in the room (we have yet to examine the first one).
-The items on the round table.

Well we could knock out the lady and steal her stuff, but...
1- She has a knife. Ian's not gonna get past that, even with our help!
2- She's sane, as I've said. She'll be more useful as a party member in the long run IMO.
3- People who are knocked out are unconscious for roughly 1-2 minutes, 3-5 minutes at most. Any longer = Brain Damage.

How do you know she is sane. Even if she is sane how do you know she can be trusted.

I say we kill it!

No.

Just no.

I agree with ShadowNIL: if you see another human being who looks and acts perfectly sane, I would rather take the chance and assume she is perfectly normal rather than attack her and be wrong.
