I'm not saying he *should* know his name, but I was just kinda surprised that he didn't. After all, the Pope is one of the most important/influential/powerful/whatever people in the world, no matter if you like him or not. Analogically, I *shouldn't care* what is the name of, say, the president of the US. But I do, of similar reasons. And he's just in the news a lot.Taalit wrote:I don't really see why it's notable at all that he's unfamiliar with John Paul II. He's obviously not Catholic, so why should he care about what the pope's name is? I definitely don't know the name of Burma's President, but I'm not Burmese, so who cares?
To be honest you only hear of the Pope in this part of the world very rarely. I mean, the abdication was news but before that he was ever mentioned in the news when he read something in Finnish (along with a bunch of languages). The Pope is absolutely disregarded in the Nordic countries as a whole. His influentiality is zero (or similar in status to any other modern monarch).Vurn wrote:I'm not saying he *should* know his name, but I was just kinda surprised that he didn't. Oh yeah. I remember you explaining it once, but I had forgot what it was.Taalit wrote:Arabic, actually. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D8%AA%D8 ... ian_ArabicAnteroinen wrote:Theta changed his name to Taalit. I think it was a Najavo thing.
