Ian examines the keychain... Certainly it can fit in the hook, and it would solve the rope tearing problem. But it is too weak to support a person's full weight, it would probably bend and break while Ian is climbing down!

Ian doesn't know what to do, he starts to sweat as the monster hits the door increasingly harder. He checks his inventory.

Ian has:

-His turned off phone.
-A steel bar.
-A flashlight, working and loaded with 3 batteries and a key.
-A keychain with Ian's home keys and wallet.
-The mysterious paper.
-A magnifying glass.
-The rope made from bed sheets.

well... let me try now...

Ian: tie the rope with steel bar. Attach steel bar to hooks. Check if construction is safe now.

Use one of your keys to write, "You suck, monster" on the wall once you're ready to climb down.

That could serve as a good way down!
We can also pull down the whole thing after we finish our descent, dragging the rope + steel bar + hooks down to the balcony. Then we'd have our steel bar, rope, and hooks with us when they fall! Free for the taking and keeping!

Bad news: We'd lose our way up, but seeing as this is an apartment, we'd find a way back up through the stairs maybe, and eventually we'll find a way to kill the monsters, and go back up to deal with the first one.

So this'll lead us to STAGE 2: THE LOWER FLOOR!

Also, if this plan works, and you can confirm it, before you have Ian implement it QUICK, have him do what ENIHCAMBUS suggested.

Ian thinks this will work! The steel bar is firm enough to support his weight, and it fits between the two hooks!

He ties the rope to the steel bar, and combines it with the hooks. It fits perfectly, without sliding! :D

Since it looks like Ian still has some spare time, he leaves a message for his friend the monster before leaving  He uses his home keys to write it in the wall.

Image

Without losing time, he jumps out of the window and starts to climb down the rope.

Image

He left just in time! He hears the monster break opening the door in the room!

Image

Image

Ian starts to laugh at the image of the monster looking at the empty room and reading the message...

...but suddenly he finds himself gasping for air.

The DARKNESS! He forgot about it! HE CAN'T BREATHE OUTSIDE!!!

Still climbing down, Ian tries to hold his breath...

...but when all oxygen in his lungs is consumed, he starts to feels dizzy.

No, this mustn't be posibble... he was so CLOSE to escaping... but there's no escape from this... darkness... why this? Why him? What has he done?

He must resist... but he can't anymore. His hands fail him and he falls...

Image

He falls into the unescapable darkness, finally losing all hope...

<I'll post the next part of the sequence soon. as always, discussion is allowed, but no commands please ;) >

wow...

Now we know why there is no light in other part of house...
But why Ian's flashlight didn't die when he was close to monster?..

(but seriously, something extraordinary tries to kill you, but, instead to fear, you write funny message on the wall??? And you make it when you have not much time to escape?..

IT isn't horror...

It is A'LLUKIN style! :P )

The fall ends abruptly. Ian tries to get up... it hurts.

Image

The sudden pain makes Ian think properly. He has't drowned... he doesn't know how, nor why, but... he can... he can breathe the darkness!

But he still feels like he is going to drown. It's a very strange feeling, the dense conglomerate flowing through his nose, filling everything... It feels poisonous, it feels like no human being would survive breathing this... but he does! Somehow.

He hates this throat-burning sensation... but hey, he is alive! He survived the fall! And he managed to escape! The plan didn't go as he thought, but at least the monster can't reach him... right?

Ian gets up... Where is he? Oh yeah, the balcony... It seems he can't reach his uncle's apartment anymore, at least not by climbing up the rope. He looks inside... he can barely see a living room in the other side.

Image

While thinking what should be his next move, Ian equips the fla... wait... where is the flashlight?

<that's a very good question. there is a reason, i won't say anything yet but you can theorize on it ;) i can point out one obvious difference though: the room lights use alternate current while the flashlight uses direct current.>

<well, when people are in fear it leads them to do crazy things XD
also, keep in mind that as I said this isn't a horror story, it's more like an adventure story with moments of horror. and that doesn't preclude the use of funny commands :P (though of course there's always a limit). for pure horror we'll have your story (right?).>

<also, is it true that it looks like A'LLUKIN? I'm trying to avoid that to create my own style but it's hard sometimes  >

Pull the rope so the cute monster can't understand that you climbed down
