These rooms are so cool! They're even more realistic than the official ones haha

Thanks everyone! As of today, all Replicata II locations are finished; now it's just a matter of slowly releasing them ;)

I almost forgot, I should really be putting out some sort of liner notes or something with each location so you can see my thought process.

The combination of having a sunken and clearly "dead" craft with the pounding ambient was copied from 987 (Broken clock room) where you have a big mismatch between the visual and the audio, but they still relate to each other. I thought it was a good (mis)fit.

I know I really wanted to use the ambient for this location (from "Winter Sun" by Solar Fields, definitely worth a full listen) because it just sounds so open and bleak, in my humble opinion. What better setting than a couple of floating ice cliffs above a sea of snow. Yes, it's not the scary side of Submachine, but don't worry, more scariness will be coming soon :D

I used elements from the Zulu tribe, so it should at least have some sort of African feel (Africa is pretty much avoided in Submachine, no? Not counting Egypt...) A different cultural representation = more variety :)

Originally I had the background slated to be some sort of tall plant, like maybe bamboo or a thin type of close-growing tree. I threw that out because we shouldn't expect such abundant plant life in the Submachine, and plus having a bunch of organic lines criss-crossing were hard to keep track of. I would much rather spend a solid hour plotting bricks. I kinda wanted to keep the trees just so the ambient would fit a bit better. When I hear the ambient I immediately think of creatures in brush and insects in tall grass, so it would have been nice to have more plant life. But oh well...

As for the unique teleporter...I just felt like doing something different.
Tomorrow we will return to the surface...

The most we have is the mosque in Sub8, and after seeing that dome on top I couldn't help but think about the rest of the traditional mosque structure. So why not focus on a minaret? And bury it and incorporate elements from the spiral staircase in the Temple?
