Thing? What thing? Ian doesn't know what you're talking ab...

"hit in the eye"-like commands
With a strength born out of fear, Ian swings his weapon directly at the thing's eye...

WHAT??

The... the bar... it just PASSED through the thing! Like if it were made of SMOKE!!
"run"-like commands
Ian is frozen in there, his brain can't think well. Ian's first thought is to run to the kitchen... but his instincts are stronger than him, and they are telling him to run, RUN, RUN in the opposite direction from that thing and not look back!

Ian runs to his room at max speed and slams the door shut.

He hears the thing's growls approaching the room...

it's almost like that thing just KNEW Ian had no escape, and were just playing with his food!

He needs a way to block the door! FAST!

<well... you are both right in a sense. on the one hand, Ian is not yet prepared to confront him, it's his first encounter and he still can't believe what is happening, and in any case he just does what a normal person would do (even more, because he attacks first). on the other hand, you can and will kill things like this. and one of your posts has a hint about what kind of weapon will be needed  >

If worst comes to worst, you can always try and barricade the door with the wardrobe.

"Isn't wardrobe/bed too heavy to move it to the door on time?..
I think I can hide under bed... But monster can be smart and could find me!
Can I carefully jump down through window, to the balcony?.."

command: Ian: Thinks about thoughts above, make right choice.
(I vote for jumping down, but I don't know is it safe...)
Is it a lightsaber?
(I thought about the light... Maybe monster can't step on light room?..)

Do not jump down, darkness will engulf him as he falls, choking the life out of him, he won't be able to take the fall, then it's GAME OVER.

Wait...

The darkness the creature is made up of is smoke-like...
We mentioned light-saber...

Light could solidfy it's form, so the hit would connect!
Although it would be counterproductive to attach our flashlight on our steel rod, cuz then how will we see?
So...

One hand = Point flashlight light at creature.
Other hand = Stab with steel rod.

Right?

Ian thinks the same... they are too heavy. He needs something else!
Sublevel 102 wrote:I think I can hide under bed... But monster can be smart and could find me!
Again Ian thinks the same...
Sublevel 102 wrote:Can I carefully jump down through window, to the balcony?..
It's a good idea but the balcony is too far down, he won't likely survive if he jumps... even if he does he would break all his bones. Also there's the darkness...

Right?
Ian doesn't think it will work, because he already had the flashlight on and it didn't stop the monster. Also, when he was running to his room Ian did notice the monster had a moment of doubt when it reached the part of the hallway illuminated by his room's light, but it stepped in afterwards and it didn't solidify or melt or seem to be affected in any way.

And Ian doesn't want to open the door again anyways... he can hear the monster near the door. He can try to attack it again, but if he fails... he is DEAD.

One of our posts has an accidental hint?
ON WHICH PAGE?!

Come on, I thought the light = solidifying trick would've worked...
Wait, we can't amplify the light using the magnifying glass?

The solution HAS to be something involving light...!

Ian: Barricade the door with drawer first! (and maybe with heavy planks)

(Onyx, BTW, I have just noticed you made small error, I think: drawer should be in center of room, not? (page 6))

After Ian gets the barricade sorted, get him to tie the bed sheets together and create a makeshift rope, which can be used to get down to the balcony below-get to ready to use at any time.

(You weren't kidding, were you Vortex? XD )
