Re: Pastel Land History
I suppose I'm zombifying this thread, but since it's a sticky I imagine nobody really minds.
All I have to say is that I've never felt older than when I started reading through this, remembered our first forum story, "Escaping The Machine", that I'd intended to edit and turn into a polished work, and then realized that was 7 years ago.
Like, shit, the word "community" doesn't even seem to express everything that Pastel Land has been. xD

True... when I think about when I started being a member I realize that I practically grew up with the forum.
I still have the forum story in my copy of the old forum, I read it from time to timeEscaping The Machine

I remember the roleplays, Alex TC99 and his friends protecting their unobtanium, Alamos and his army trying to steal. Really inspired me!

You aren't zombifying it at all. Its our history, its okay to talk about it. Speaking of Zombifying, anyone remember Zombyrus and his gentleman pumpkin avatars. That was an interesting member...Marbles wrote:I suppose I'm zombifying this thread, but since it's a sticky I imagine nobody really minds.

But ya I know the feeling of age. Its tough to imagine that I've spent eight years with this community. I just recently celebrated my fifth Minecraft anniversary. I remember playing on Smartguy5000's KanesMorgue server in Minecraft Classic. I was reminded of how old I feel. That was five years ago. Three years after I joined this community. Whenever I see you posting Marbles, I'm reminded of our time spent working with each other on the Cats vs. Squirrels story. Also our time spent working on the Submachine Wiki. Theory voting processes too.
When I look at Soullock I think of him and his theories, his Dark+Light theory most notably. Lol... Also your close bond and ties with the sub-god Mateusz. Something that I once achieved and then blew it to shit in a fit of rage.
When I look back its been one hell of a journey, one of hell of an adventure. All the flame wars, the forum stories, the evil edits, the game leaks, the returning members, the new members, the spam bots, the one time posters, the bozo system, the post posts to clear yourself out of the bozo system, the soft porn, the kore incident.
I have no explanation for the reason I continue to stay here. I think its based on what is above. This community went beyond its original purpose and turned into a phenomonon itself. It became a part of me, just as much as I'm a part of it. Its like a tattoo. A giant, random, crazy, colorful tattoo. You can never get rid of it. No matter how much you try.
Eight years yearning for an exit from the phenomenon known as Submachine.

I liked the way Zombyrus updated his avatar to match each time closer to his head appaerance, definitevely one of the most creative avatar process I seen.

Well you have been here for 5 years. I wonder what Vortex feels as well, because he was here 7 years.

It's as I said above, I practically grew up with the forum. I see it as a small but important part of my life, like any other. When I look into the old forum and see what I used to post I feel like if I'm reading some sort of diary of my teenage years
And on the other hand, as Marbles and Gem say, it's difficult to imagine that so many years have passed. Some things I remember like if they happened yesterday. I know I sound like an old man about to tell his war stories, but it's true XD The game releases, the forum stories, the showposts... it's hard to believe that happened so much time ago.
