Re: Video Games
Well, at least for me, it's quite an immersion breaker to jump around in a test chamber for half an hour, with no idea of how to solve the puzzle but knowing that it is doable by some tricky trick the developer came up with. And then having to Alt-Tab out of the game and search for the solution on Youtube.Sublevel 104 wrote:is it... bad?- ak - wrote:even if it somewhat bogged down by its extreme difficulties in some of puzzles
Finished it now and the ending is mind-blowingly good.
Yesterday, I even experienced a Portal Tetris Effect. Everytime I held something in my hand and wanted to put it down, my brain refused to do so for a moment because it thought the object would get dissolved in a fizzler. -__-

Re: Video Games
Yeah, some chamber required some sort of tricks that shouldn't even be part of the game because of its difficulty and amount of reflex required. That's why I didn't see this mod as good as other Workshop pieces that I listed out. Those Workshop pieces know exactly what make their puzzles a definite Portal experience and Portal Stories: Mel failed in that regard.
I will repeat that the story is average at best, even if the intro and epilogue parts are so damn good.
Gawd damn, does this game looks so damn good...

That's the game I am looking forward to the most, next to Black Mesa when its out for Mac.Boingo wrote:No Man's Sky is just looking better and better...

Re: Video Games
I noticed that Portal added radios at some point. In every level.
Now my whole life is about finding those radios. And putting them in their rightful place.
Radios.

Re: Video Games
Didn't they add that in 2009? It's Portal 1's "alternate reality game".Error_3113 wrote:I noticed that Portal added radios at some point. In every level.

At least I'm sure they already were there when I downloaded it in 2013 (my first "real" game besides Submachine, lol)
I don't really get it, but it seems that when you place them right,... many mysterious things happen. You can transform the radio sounds into pictures or something.

I know. It's pretty cool. I like little side things like that, that hint at a deeper purpose.
Also, I did my first Portal playthrough last year, so I guess I never noticed that before. Evidently the patch was added in March 2010.

It was cool, but not so to the deaf people.Error_3113 wrote:I know. It's pretty cool. I like little side things like that, that hint at a deeper purpose.

Which is kinda odd since Valve typically tries to make their gaming experience more accessible to the deaf people

Re: Video Games
Oh, do they? I always found they put a lot of attention to the soundscape. Just listen to the infamous tone_alley sound that plays in Ravenholm and Portal 1. (I don't know if you are deaf, so don't take offense from this if you are, please)- ak - wrote:It was cool, but not so to the deaf people.Error_3113 wrote:I know. It's pretty cool. Re: Video Games
I remember when the first trailer came out for it and was hooked ever since. To bad they are making the PC port only AFTER the ps4 versionBoingo wrote:No Man's Sky is just looking better and better...
who wants to play a game in 30fps anyway??
PCMR ftw
EDIT: apparently both versions are coming out at the same time now.
Ive been on the forums since it was Pastel Forums. Just changed usernames. Just a long time lurker here...
