The first game, on its own, probably didn't encourage him much to keep the series going.

Once he gets to Sub2, though... The intro alone will probably be enough to get him interested on the story.

Eh, when we had gotten to Sub7, I was a tad suspicious that events had taken place, and that Murtaugh and Elizabeth were long gone... Sub9 confirmed that suspicion. But, the tombs in Sub9 did still make me shiver head to toe...
