I remember when my parents told me to not use the PS1 for 6 months as punishment, And I did so. After that I didn't mind that much in playing games. I have this Xbox 360 in my house now, and I didn't used it in a month (Well, actualy thats because I have not good new games to play :p).

Me brother shown me a video week ago about people breaking their consoles out of rage and frustration. Its indeed painfull.

This makes me pretty angry, regardless of what a brat the boy could have been... I mean, making him destroy his favourite stuff (in public), filming it and then obviously posting the video on the net? Why is this dad so fucked up?
Back when my brother and I were growing up we would often fight over the video game system in the house, who got to play it first, who got to play it for such and such length. One day we came home from school to find it gone with a note, saying that it was given to a child more deserving than us, because we couldn't behave ourselves, and agree to take turns.

Did our parents treat us unfairly? Were they guilty of neglect? Not at all. What they were doing is exactly what I like to see from parents, because what I see these days are spoiled kids, who get what they want, and when they are naughty, get a simple time out or sent to their room.

I came from a household, where if something broke, and we both didn't confess to it, we were both punished. I came from a household where we were spanked. I don't believe in beating shit out of a child, but a few firm hand swats on their bottom is enough to send a message of "don't do this/that"

When you get into the real world, and misbehave, like if you were to go out and punch someone on the street, you will go to jail. That's what parents our parents taught us. When you misbehave and punch your brother because he wont let you play on the system, you get stuff taken away.

Same goes for the real world. You get your freedom taken away. You go to jail, confined to a cell, let out once or twice a day, fed once or twice a day. I've been in jail. Once. And I learned my lesson and haven't been there since.

You'll find out soon enough. :)
Yeah, my parents were kind of like that too, but notably they( my mom 8n this case, my dad is pretty cool) didn'tcpunish us for justice, but more like from anger. I think that's the main problem with people's perception on corporal punishment; they can't tell the difference between the former and the latter which was basically the parents taking it out on children with no regard for justice, which is kind of like abuse.
Is this my final form?

Uhm, yeah, I'll definitely frame this text and hang it over my bed!
I'm mainly upset about the fact that he puts the whole process on the net. That's just completely unnecessary. I mean, when you go to jail, no one will make a video showing your court process and how you sit there in your holding cell, just to put it online. The penalty itself should be enough punishment.
I have the impression that the father is just selfish and wanted it to be online so that everyone comments "Omg your such a great father, kids nowadays are sooo super spoiled and should be beaten up at least 3 times a day" or whatever.
And believe it or not, I got punished, too! 8-) (But rather with psychological methods, because I had nothing very precious they could just take away)

Oh I'll totally agree that public humiliation is a fair bit out of line. This isn't the medieval days where we would throw vegetables at offenders. Though I believe parents should have the right to punish their children without being chastised by others. I'm not saying they should be allowed to abusing and neglectful parents, but when a parent wants to take something away, send them to their room or give them a good spanking, they should be able to do that without the media hounding them and treating them like they are criminals. When in honesty, they are just being parents and setting an example and teaching their child a lesson.

I agree. These days, the media seems to want to put their nosey butts (lol nosey butts) into everything. I'm also getting quite sick of some parents' attitudes.

Slightly off-top:

New Zealand has a problem with domestic violence, and the government tried to fix it by creating what was dubbed the 'no-smack law'. People can't make up their minds on whether they want it to stay or go.
The short of it is, it didn't really help. Domestic violence kind went up instead.

I agree.
When I was younger I had no control over my anger. And I'm talking about myself at about 5 or 6 years old I would tear up rooms if I was angry. My mom or dad would have to hold me down on these floor until I calm down. Moreover, in 2nd and 1st Grade in school they had to do that as well.

I thank them for doing that. I was like an oversize baby, who was unable to control or express what was upsetting me. To immobilizes me gave me the time to calm down.

Had a very extremely random thought yesterday. I was stressed out because of the exam, had barely slept, and this question popped up:

"Are my eyes above my forehead or below?"

Had to think about that for half a minute to find the answer :|

Don't ever enter my home uninvited. Especially when I'm playing my video game.
