It is, I would think, highly relevant how incidents like compare to the trend. Religious violence of this magnitude has been nearly nonexistent in the region, and the fact alone that that just changed is cause for worry in itself.

Once again we end up responding to violence with the equal, but not the opposite. Also, where'd you hear the hostages died as well? All the sources I've found say they survived.
