Re: Submachine Fan Artwork
Yeah, but it's a pretty awesome idea, I think. Do you plan on buying your sets when they are ready?

Re: Submachine Fan Artwork
Wow, I haven't even thought of that. I'm not sure. It would be awesome, to be the SubGod and look over all the little worlds.
To put them in a room with the lights off and shine flashlights on them and pretend you're in the void.....
I don't even want to know how much money that would cost.....

Haha exactly xDTo put them in a room with the lights off and shine flashlights on them and pretend you're in the void.....
I don't know which program you use, but back then, I loved to play around with "Lego digital designer". There was a function that calculated the costs for the set. (By the way, I never bought something, because the prices were pretty horrid indeed. This program should be named "Welcome to the world of money, folks!" )

I use LDD for my digital sets too. I've never thought to look for a price estimate though. Especially when I'm repeatedly building 7000-something piece sets for each section of the games (most of the pieces are in the walls).....it would be nice to have a little set, though. Like a mini teleporter or an Anubis statue to make into a keychain

Re: Submachine Fan Artwork
I just reread your post where you said that you can't wait to build the more complex stuff, Error. Do you already have plans for that? I'm asking because I really can't think of a way to show different layers or Karma portals

Re: Submachine Fan Artwork
As far as more complex stuff goes, I think later games will be more exciting because with each game you slowly work out of the "box" framework of going from screen to screen. Think of Sub7 where the South Gardens and Winter Palace are much more free-flowing and have more interesting shapes, whereas Sub1, every room is pretty much just a box with objects.
So yeah, those are the "more interesting" games, in a sense.
I'm not sure I'm going to add the blue Karma Portals, though...they only show up when a person is near them and I'm pretty sure my rooms aren't really set up on a good scale for the person to go through them anyway . I'll probably do the big white karma portal at the end of Sub9 and maybe the one at the end of Sub8.
Which leads me to layers...
The Layers in Sub8 will work okay, but in Sub9...geez. I didn't look that far yet. Maybe I'll do one horizontal strip of the Pyramid and other areas at a time... and then for rooms where multiple layers come into play, I'll just copy those rooms and, line them up perpendicularly with one of the Layer representations in the middle.
Here's a somewhat logical graphic interpretation of that:
For instance, a top down view of the Third Row of the Pyramid from the top would look something like:
---------(3a)
---------(3b)
---------(3c)
(1) (2) (3d) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8)
---------(3e)
---------(3f)
---------(3g)
1. Left Shaft
2. Corner Room w/ Bowl
3. a. Layer 1- Iron Pedestal
--b. Layer 2- Gray Stump
--c. Layer 3- Shattered Pedestal
--d. Layer 4- Weathered Yellow Block
--e. Layer 5- Iron Pole
--f. Layer 6- Brick/Stone Mound
--g. Layer 7- New Pedestal
4. Room w/ Ladder Rung
5. Room w/ Ladder + Brass Bowl
6. Room w/ Ladder Top
7. Scarab Room
8. Right Shaft
Hopefully that explanation made sense!

Re: Submachine Fan Artwork
Yeah, that's what I meant. So, you want to put the different layers "in a row", if I get it right? Good idea, actually.
Now that I think of it, couldn't you build it in a way that it's possible to view all the layers at one time? Like, that you still build them in a row, but with transparent "backgound" or something? Just suggesting, I think that would look interesting!

Re: Submachine Fan Artwork
Hmm....transparent background might work except the actual position of the object wouldn't change from Layer to Layer most of the time...so the objects would probably block each other if you looked at it head on.
