Couldn't the root transporters could take us to both existing locations, and new ones (if desired)? Having a completely new network for each transporter we've seen so far would equate to 8 different networks; one is enough when you have coordinate portals and karma portals to incorporate

Well, the only cipher system we have seen so far connects nearby location, and I think Mateusz said something in a post about that the root transporter doesn't act like a portal, that only connect sub-areas inside the same area.

EDIT: found the note in question.

you're confused. devices used in root location were not portals. they were running only within ONE location - the root. right? portals move you between locations.

And we all know the reason the transporter does nothing with no Cipher Plates inserted (0,0) is that that location itself is (0,0); multiple transporter boxes in multiple locations mean that each one is its own "network", correct?

Well, I think all portals need energy to be working.

We turned on one in 000 location, for example. Maybe some of root transporters should be activated somehow, too?
For example, I remember some strange device in toilet 355 room..
