The woman stays silent for a moment before answering.

<???>: I don't know. He isn't in the house. He wasn't here when I woke up... I'm ashamed of myself, but I... I was too scared to go look for him outside. I.... just hope he's alright...

The woman has a look of despair on her face that makes Ian uncomfortable. He feels like he must say something to console her.

<IAN>: Don't worry, I'm sure he's fine. We will look for him together. But now we have to be careful and prepare ourselves before going outside. Making decisions in a hurry will not solve anything and can put you or you son in danger, we need to think before acting.

The woman looks a little more serene now, and nods in agreement.

Again, check behind the painting and the drawers. And both sofas. If she asks why, tell her "standard procedure".

Take the remote batteries anyway.

Ian checks the painting... nothing. In the drawers... nothing useful. He takes the batteries from the remote, but he doesn't have much hope they will work. He checks both sofas... nothing. Under the sofas... just dust.
