Stay silent and listen for any other sounds.
If worst comes to worst, you can always try and barricade the door with the wardrobe.
Balance is imperative; without it, total collapse and destruction is imminent.

Ian: Get back in your room, then turn off your phone.
Then head back out with the steel bar, sneaking towards your uncle's room.

Because let's face it very few things are immune to being stabbed vicerally by a fucking steel bar.
And whatever made that noise downstairs (which you will not confront at the moment because you're heading the other way, to your uncle's room) is damn well vulnerable to stabbing.

Right...?

DAMN! Ian's heart almost falls out of his chest! He needs to hide! Quick!!

He runs to his room and shuts the door. He waits inside... that creaking sound seems to be repeating...

*creeak creeak creeeak*

He turns off his phone to save battery and waits.

*creeak creeeeak*

Image

After what feels like half an hour... the sounds still keep repeating!

Ian starts to think he maybe overreacted... it was just a creaking sound! That could have like a million explanations... and there he is, hiding in his room like a little kid just because of a sound? if this is a joke, his uncles will remind him of this forever...
ShadowNiL wrote:Then head back out with the steel bar, sneaking towards your uncle's room.
Ian steels himself and goes back to the hallway, towards his uncles' room. The sounds get a little more loud... or so it seems to him.

Image

Ignoring them, he opens the door.

Image

No trace of his uncles, but the room seems perfectly normal. Except, of course, the light swicth doesn't work...

Everything is in place, the bed, his aunt's abstract art painting, his uncle's desk with some documents on it... He doesn't see anything useful in the room. Anyways, he doesn't want to touch anything, just in case his uncles *creeeeak creeeeeeeEEAK*

FUCK!! Those sounds are starting to drive him crazy!

IAN: CLOSE THE DOOR!!!

Wait, did you leave room's door opened? Hide behind the door, close it, but leave small gap to observe corridor. If something is there, you would see it: light from the room should light corridor.

Good idea Sublevel.
Ian: After you do that, check behind the abstract painting, see if there's something there, then examine the rest of the room. While you still have time.

Rule #??? of Point and Click / Escape the Room:
Always check the entire area as much and as thoroughly as possible before leaving!

EDIT: Ian: Check under the bed briefly, too, see if there's something under there as well like with our bed!

Agreed with Sublevel and Shadow... Hide behind the door while observing if anything is happening in your room.

After examining the papers on the desk, check behind the ABSTRACT PAINTING and see if there's anything on the wall or behind the painting, as per protocols of obeying the PNC tropes :3

Everything seems to be well. The creaking sounds continue, but they are almost like background sound now.

Ian checks behind the abstract painting... and finds a safe!

Image

He now remembers... his uncle told him that there was a safe with some survival utensils and weapons inside. He also said that the four-digit code was hidden in a drawer in the kitchen, just in case he needs to open the safe in a situation of emergency.

Ian takes a peek at the documents on the desk...

Image

They seem to be papers related to his uncle's work in advanced maths. Composition differential operators and their applications. Wow.

Ian proceeds to thoroughly explore the rest of the room, being careful not to break anything. He checks under the bed... nothing. Inside and below the pillow... nothing. Inside the nightstand's drawers... nothing useful. He looks for an alarm clock or another battery-powered device, but he doesn't find anything... Ian knows his aunt is superstitious and doesn't like to sleep with electric devices in her room, but he didn't know she went to such extent...

After checking everything, Ian thinks he is done here.

No more items there?..

If so...

Ian: Carefully: exit the room, go to the corner of the edge of corridor, and peek what is to the right...

Advanced math?
So the uncle was the one who wrote the "Call me 12!" on that paper...!

Ian: It's time to confront the maker of those sounds. Get the steel bar ready, and remember to go for the eyes!
