Re: Submachine 9: the Temple
There's certainly no direct connection seeing as Thoth is Egyptian and Shiva is Hindu, but they both do have the magical powers going for them

Re: Submachine 9: the Temple
I stand corrected.zombyrus wrote:This is actually largely incorrect, although I don't know whether or not Mateusz would know that. The basic Western conception of Hinduism is that it has 3 main gods, Brahma the creator, Vishnu the maintainer, and Shiva the destroyer, but this is an extremely flawed conception. Brahma is not considered to be an important god in any Hindu tradition; while he is the god who created the world, he himself was created by and subservient to another god. Some Hindus consider Shiva to be this main god. Others prefer Vishnu, and others prefer Devi, who is generally understood to be "The Goddess" and sort of encompasses all Hindu goddesses.Shiva is the Hindu god of dissolution after all...
Between Vishnu and Shiva, Shiva is the more esoteric god--he is a yogi and a mystic, both the champion and the source of magical power. Also, followers of Shiva (more often than followers of Vishnu) often internalize their religion--it isn't so much about the existence and worship of Shiva as an actual figure as it is seeking the powers and wisdom of Shiva in oneself.
Also true but not really worth knowing: Vishu is really dark-skinned while Shiva is really light-skinned. I don't think this difference was planned though, I think the traditions surrounding the two gods were originally separate, but eventually got grouped together under the broad title of Hinduism.
Balance is imperative; without it, total collapse and destruction is imminent.

I think this shows that layer 8 is a bit from the other layers.
Is this my final form?
Re: Submachine 9: the Temple
Okay, something I just noticed while replaying..
The ladder doesn't actually have any real connection to any part of the pyramid. There is no room that has the same golden metal design. In fact, the walls in front of the ladder look like they had to be broken to reveal it, like the ladder was hidden behind the walls. This gives me the idea that the whole design of the pyramid is really just decoration built on top of metal structure (like the ladder). It's really just some metal Submachine structure underneath. What if all Submachines really just look like metal boxes, and all the architecture is kind of added on top somehow?
Thoughts?

That is an interesting idea, but I feel like the wrecked areas in sub 7 disprove that. I assumed that the ladders were added to the temple later to make sure people could still explore it despite its decay.

Re: Submachine 9: the Temple
It could be possible that Liz added the ladder there when she couldn't find a way to the lower levels, but somehow I don't think so.

Because it has the same design of Ship???
O_O
But:
1) If Liz lived in the Ship, it doesn't mean she built that. Or Mur built Lighthouse?..
2) If something has similar design/material, it doesn't mean it has connection.
