You (forum people) have been doing this (trying to understand) since sub_2, always being proven wrong.
Never stopped you before.
Why should it stop you now? :D

Everything from Mur and Liz is gone, but we still have a new Layer to explore.

Everything from Mur and Liz is gone
So it seems the Mur and Liz story has been wrapped up? I liked it, even if I didn't understand it. Mur got his redemption in the end it seems.

Does that mean in the final game it's just going to be us, and the machine?

Yeah! That makes sence. We didn't find the computer in Layer 1 core, or any other Core, but in Layer 8 we are going to find it. Perpaps Layer 8 is the original Layer and the 7 main Layers are all the flawed copies.

I'll never stop! Even after I was totally wrong on the seven layers in Sub_8.

Still debating with myself about my Dimensional Pathway Theory, though!

Seems like it that way. As I said in my previous post on page 17:
- ak - wrote:The Karma is the FOUNDATION of everything we see in the realm of Submachine. Even the machines are of karmic energy. That's why almost everything are (or were) collapsing because of the destructive karma emitted by Murtaugh, even if such things were unintentional on his ends. This was never the tale about Murtaugh's Revenge. This is about Murtaugh's Enlightenment and Repentance. This is about Shiva (or dare I say... Submachine?) wanting Murtaugh to reunite the people with the Submachine by giving him the power to be in seven layers at the same time and thus, giving him the opportunity to experience Enlightenment and see the Plan for what it truly is. This is about the conflict of the soul with the mind, both people and Submachine. Very appropriate given the constant themes found in many Mateusz's works.
Of course, I theorized that we could go back in time and chase after Mur again. The story is up in the air as to how the series will ends as we're now reaching the end of our journey, the end of our mental and spiritual conflict within ourselves and the Submachine.

The only questions left are...

Will we be able to escape from the Submachine? There are many meanings as to what Exit are to people...

And will we ever learn what Submachine really is?

As it is now, Mur and Liz look to me more like allegories than real people, with all those titles and honorifics (ironically we have seen their corpses too). I just can't see from all the notes whether they were normal people, or they were worshipped spiritual leaders for many people (or both? maybe they were normal people but the stories folk went telling about them sorta deified them?)

In first games the story was so casual ("last summer I went in a camp", "take care of the cat", etc. etc.), it's been like a big "jump" from the quotidianeity of Sub4's Lab (for example) to all the karmic forces and godlike stuff in Sub7-8-9, and I can't seem to conciliate it all well.

Check out what I think about the Karma and its relationship with the Submachine: http://www.pastelportal.com/forum/viewt ... 832#p34832

Its all make sense if you really think about it...

I see. It does makes sense if you think of it that way :P I'm just confused as to why the mention of karma and everything related only appeared late in the game (with the exception of the term karma arm, perhaps). Though it could be because this was necessary for the player to experience illumination :B

This was planned right from the start with THAT note in Sub_1. Mur even called his own arm Karma arm.

We all thought it would be some sort of interesting magic and sci-fi hijink. Little did we know that it would actually be of importance to Submachine itself until this game.
