WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS ABOUT SUBMACHINE 9: THE TEMPLE
So, it seems that Mur, the man who has haunted us since the very begining, is dead. Not only that, but it looks like he's been dead for a long time. Which leads me to suggest that Mur has infact been dead since before we entered the subnet. Perhaps there was a reason the keyboard in the lab is broke; the 'person' on the other end is merely a computer program designed to send a couple of messages when pinged by the one in the lab. All our other interactions could've been reset each time someone passed through, as in implyed by the secret text.
Also, this explains in the previous game, the Plan, where a note says a women, presumably Liz, has been worshipped for 700 years or so. Mur and Liz perhaps weren't time travellers, or immortals. Perhaps they were just ordinary people, and they've been dead for a very long time.

I think everything is a recording of a past event, that someone re-played to call us.

But then would we be in the year 2600? We know the events of Submachine have taken place in the 1900s (as far as I remember.) Plus, the Lab: Where would Mur and Liz be getting 20th Century technology in (perhaps) the year 1200? And on that same note, what are Mur and Liz doing mummified in the year 1200?
Some form of time travel must be present in the series.

700 years before 1900 I believe. And what's not to say we're in the year 2600?

That's already a theory by Gemini, whom he named it False Reality Theory.ENIHCAMBUS wrote:I think everything is a recording of a past event, that someone re-played to call us.
Look it up in Wiki. For a long long time, the theory was pretty much unlikely to be close to accurate until this game. Props to Gemini for having a set of balls to predict that kind of theory.
