The whip was the first invention to brake the sound barrier.
The Canary islands are named after dogs.
And Panama was the last country to be invaded by Scotland (Though it was a complete failure).

There, enjoy your birthday facts. =P

Ah, someone's not been keeping up with all the other birthday threads. =P
I was just being silly in one of them and said that because just saying "Happy Birthday!" again and again is getting dull, I'm now going to substitute that for some random facts to make things (mildly) more interesting.

One could argue that the first human-made object to break the sound barrier - by which I mean surpassing the velocity of sound,
which is a constant equal to 340 meters per second (in air) was a cut stone. Because the Earth - and the Solar System, and the Milky Way Galaxy - travels faster than that.
TT: I guess one could use those words to describe it.

But that velocity is measured in the Earth's frame of reference, if one wants to account the velocity of the Earth, Solar System, etc. then the velocity of sound in air changes too, because the air (the Earth's atmosphere) is moving at the same velocity as the Earth, Solar System, etc.

you can't take the speed of sound in one frame of reference, and say that something breaks it while moving in another frame of reference, if that were right we'd be already more than deaf from the continuous shockwaves, not? :P
