No. To open portable ladder, he need special square-shaped key. To get extra-long stick, he need wrench.
Right now he hasn't first nor second.

and the handle is square. try using it on the square on the box, and also the hole in the previous room

Yes. It is square, and it can be unscrewed! Mr. Stick uses strange tool to get HANDLE.

Yeah, the hole is cubic, and handle is perfectly fits in it! Mr. Stick inserts handle in hole (and of course, the handle immediately got stuck,and can't be taken back), and opens secret small cache!



Inside small cache he finds and takes HOOK and SMALL WOODEN STAKE.

And again, I want to add new rule, guys.
If you want to examine items from inventory, to look at them closer, you should give individual COMMAND for that.
Exceptions are NOTES, that will be read by mr. Stick automatically.

Mr. Stick was wrong. He CAN'T stand on this strange postament. Because it is very hard to balance on footing that has such shape.
