7 didn't seem creepy to me
Odd, I found Layer 7 the creepiest
especially layer 5, that is my favorite location in sub8
Same here

Layer three may have been tranquil, but there was definitely a sense or foreboding for me...perhaps it's the influences of sub 7...

Oh, that was...
I replay the whole series now, and I AGAIN was suddenly freaked out and was  after hearing sudden beginning of Lighthouse ambience and meeting Portal sound.
It happened even after 32000000 times of replaying sub!

Boys, this is why I so loved early Subs...

Submachine only freaks me when I have good headphones. That makes Submachines more freak, especialy Submachines 2 and 8.

For me Layer 3 was the best, it is something about the bamboo like plants and the music. In not sure if I'd call the sewers in Layer 4 creepy per se just... the way it sounds like someone is doing dishes, it is... unnerving.

You mean the man screaming at the microphone?
I noticed that from the first time I heard it. It was very creepy.

Huh? I never heard a man screaming at the microphone in that layer.
Well, thats what I think it is. But near the ending of the music of that Layer, there is a really creepy sound, not the one of the pipes, but the one before it.

I don't know why, but Layer 4's ambience don't make me scary or nervous.

Actually, I wasn't really scared since Sub4, when I was scared in Ship, with its ambience and atmosphere. Root in Sub5 and Edge in Sub6 made me unnerved, but I wasn't scared. I think Liz's Ship in Sub7, and its ambience when you first time arrive on it, should made you scared, but... I wasn't.
