It depens in the root of the languaje. Since the Latin ones doesn't have auxiliar verbs, they always modify they ending of the verbs at any circumstances. Thats because they have a lot of times.

I didn't know you studied Spanish... I wish I had studied Russian in my school, or other languages than just English and a bit of French.
